“Meridian” is recognized as a multinational integration association in the city as well as at state and federal level. The representatives of 26 different nationalities and ethnic groups from different countries are united by “Meridian”. Every month people who have recently arrived from Russia and post-Soviet states, as well as from other countries, including war zones, come to “Meridian” and need support in social and cultural areas. The motto of the association: Promotion of understanding between people of different nationalities, regardless of their mother tongue, country of origin and creed, remains as relevant as ever. “Meridian” has another special feature: Cohesion of the generations, which has been cultivated since the foundation of the association. We try to strengthen an understanding between our new homeland and our old homeland with the language of the culture, the so-called people diplomacy. Our goal is to be a bridge between both cultures and to maintain and improve their connection. The performances of our young people with the Generation Theatre and with the dance group for the sick children in the University Hospital, Oncology Department and in the Olvenstedt Clinic as well as in our branches in Bernburg and in Schönebeck by the migrants* and by the host society confirm that our commitment and our efforts are not in vain.
